Happy Father's Day!

A couple have spoken of their outstanding One to One experience and how it involved the whole family ahead of Father’s Day on Sunday, June 19.

Rachel Phillips and husband Chris, of Upton, used One to One for their second child, Sophie, born at Arrowe Park Hospital.

Rachel, a teacher, said: “I self- referred to One to One, after hearing a recommendation from a friend.

“It was so lovely to have the same midwife throughout and to have home appointments, even on Christmas Eve when I had concerns.

“Being at home for the appointments meant I wasn't worried about my toddler getting bored and in fact Lorna went out of her way to include her.

“We were supported with Strep B information and even had hoped for a home birth but Sophie was too comfy so ended up with a planned C-section and I'll never forget Lorna's text on the morning of her birth.

“We were also so impressed with the sonographer at St James on both scan days.

“My husband was particularly impressed as she was so professional and informative and it was such a more magical experience than it had been with the NHS.”

The couple, who have an older daughter, Jessica, three, were under the care of midwife Lorna Gerrish and enjoyed free hypnobirthing classes as part of the One to One service.

Dad Chris said: “The hypnobirthing classes really helped prepare both of us and empowered us with our rights.

“We were able to ask any questions and never rushed during appointments.”

The family are looking forward to celebrating Father’s Day especially now that Chris is a dad to ‘two beautiful girls’.
